Principal's Message

Prayer for the Family

Great protector of the family, St. Gerard, we ask your prayers for all parents, that they may receive the grace to live in the love of God and bring up their children to know and love him with all their hearts.

God, our loving Father, your love gives life to the world. Bless and make holy all human love. May your love fill the hearts and homes of all families, so that the world may enjoy the peace and happiness promised by your Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ.

Amen

School Uniform Update

In 2018, the Uniform Sub-Committee began the process of transforming the current school uniform to a new one. The committee collected feedback and suggestions from families, collated this feedback and started looking at other schools for styles and modern approaches to uniforms. As 2019 commences, the Uniform Sub-Committee will start moving forward with developing samples that reflect the new direction we are taking. This includes the use of the new school logo and colours.

As mentioned in previous newsletters, the changeover period will be approximately 7 years so families are welcome to continue purchasing the current uniform until more information is available about the new uniform.

More information about when the new uniform will be introduced at OLA will be disseminated to the community in the coming weeks.

2018 School Annual

The 2018 School Annual is well underway with production set to commence in the coming weeks. The decision was made last year to postpone the publication (Community was advised via the end of year 2018 newsletter) of the annual not being printed in 2018 so that it reflected the whole school year rather than only up until Term 3. We will notify the community of the delivery date once the publisher has advised us.

Sacramental Information & Celebrations

Please see the attachments below for more information about the sacraments at Our Lady's Assumption Parish in 2019. Families are welcome to download the relevant form below or hard copies will be available in the Parish Office and OLA classrooms on Monday 18 February. If you have any queries, please do not hesitate to contact the Parish Office or ex-OLA students are welcome to contact the Mrs Velma Erskine on vel.erskine@cewa.edu.au

OLA Playgroup (Mums and Bubs Group)

In consultation with the OLA School Board, the school will be introducing an OLA Playgroup for parents with children under the age of 3.  OLA Parents with toddlers, as well as community members, will be invited to join the OLA Playgroup and meet once a week so the young children can develop social skills and give parents/community parents the opportunity to socialise. Further information will be disseminated in the coming weeks.

Kindergarten Enrolments 2020

Placements for the Kindergarten positions will be finalised towards the end of Term 1 and the beginning of Term 2. If you haven't completed the enrolment forms for your child, please do so as soon as possible.

OLA OSHC

In consultation with CEWA personnel, we are endeavouring to have the OLA Outside School Hours Care and Vacation Care (OSHC) operating by the end of Term 2 (and possibly sooner), depending on the Regulatory Board authorisation.

We will continue to keep you all informed, once we receive confirmation we can proceed and decisions can be made.

See you tonight at the Family Fun Night!
