Kevin Sheedy AO

We will be joined by the legendary Kevin Sheedy at this year's Champagnat Trust Sports Lunch. Sheedy has an impressive record in the Australian Football League as a player and a coach. He played 251 games with Richmond between 1967 and 1979, and during that time was a part of three premiership-winning teams. After a truly impressive career as a player, Kevin then went on to coach 635 games for Essendon, coaching the club to four premiership wins in 1984, 1985, 1993 and 2000. We can't wait to hear from this legend at the Champagnat Trust Sports Lunch.

Champagnat Trust Sports Lunch

In 2022, the Champagnat Trust “Sports Lunch” celebrates its 18th year. Held annually at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre, the Sports Lunch welcomes over 1,000 guests to an afternoon of excitement, generosity and community spirit.

What is the purpose of the event?

The purpose of the Champagnat Trust Sports Lunch is to raise money for the Champagnat Trust Bursaries. Named in honour of the Founder of the Marist Brothers, Marcellin Champagnat, the Champagnat Trust emphasises and expresses those Marist traditions we hold dear. The Trust each year, provides bursaries for boys from families that are financially disadvantaged and might never have the opportunity to experience a Marist education.

What does the event involve?

The event is an all-inclusive, premium ticketed lunch. Tickets include a two-course lunch and five-hour drinks package. The Sports Lunch is the College’s flagship event, guests enjoy interviews from special guests as well as hear from inspiring past bursary recipients. The highlight of the afternoon is the interview of the legendary sports panel, hosted by John Eales. On the day a live auction and raffle will be run with all funds raised at the event going to the Champagnat Trust.
