Principal’s Report

Mr Prasad

Dear students, parents and carers,

I am delighted to share with you the many exciting developments and activities that have been taking place at our school over the past months. As we end Term , I want to highlight some of the incredible experiences our students have had and the important changes that lie ahead.

Our school has been a hub of learning and exploration through a wide range of excursions and in-school activities. From educational trips to universities, to historic sites like Old Government House and creative workshops presented by staff from the Art Gallery of New South Wales, our students have been exposed to a diverse array of learning opportunities. Our senior students also heard an address from one of our distinguished former student, Professor Maria Kavallaris AM, who heads the Australian Centre for NanoMedicine at the University of New South Wales. These experiences not only enhance their knowledge but also foster a sense of curiosity and engagement that is vital for their growth.

I’m also pleased to announce a fantastic turnout for our collaborative Creative and Performing Arts (CAPA) Showcase with Hill Top Public School and Granville South CAPA High School. This event gave our talented students a chance to shine on stage, demonstrating their musical, theatrical, and dance abilities. It was a wonderful opportunity for our students to work together, learn from each other, and exhibit their artistic talents to the community.

In terms of policy changes, I’d like to inform you about an important development set to begin next term. The state-wide mobile phone ban in public schools is scheduled to take effect on the first day of Term 4, Monday 9 October. This policy is aimed at creating a focused and distraction-free learning environment for our students. We believe that by limiting the use of mobile phones during school hours, we can enhance their concentration and academic performance. You can find more information in our newsletter here.

While we recognise that this change may raise questions and concerns, please rest assured that we are committed to implementing it with the utmost care and consideration for our students’ wellbeing. We will provide more information and guidance in the coming weeks to ensure a smooth transition.

It has been a remarkable period for our school community, filled with enriching experiences and exciting collaborations. I would like to extend my gratitude to our dedicated teachers, staff, and parents for their continuous support and engagement in our students’ education.

I wish you all a restful and refreshing term break and to our graduating class of 2023, the best of luck for your upcoming HSC exams at the beginning of Term 4.
