Located in the Student Management area at Holloway Road campus, the Careers Room is open every lunchtime. Students are welcome to come around and browse resources, ask questions, or book an interview with our Careers Practioner, Deb Hanlen.

Year 10

 

To round off a busy end to Term 2 the Year 10 students participated in the Sandringham College Work Experience Program. The students went to a varied array of placements, including the following.

 

  • Engineering
  • Building
  • Childcare
  • Veterinary Clinics
  • Business
  • Retail
  • Hospitality
  • Physiotherapy

The students had a valuable experience and the feedback from the employers has been insightful and very positive. Thank you to all the Year 10’s for their hard work and commitment.

 

Year 12

 

Year 12 students are just about to start the process of deciding on a pathway and applying for courses and apprenticeships. More information on the application process will be sent home next week.

Diploma Courses as Pathways to Bachelor Degrees

ACU offers five diplomas that articulate into select bachelor degrees.  Students who complete a diploma may enter the second year of the desired bachelor’s degree.  An ATAR of 50.00 is usually required for entry.

 Career as a Paramedic Deciding to become a paramedic is a life-changing decision. For many the first decision they want to make is to decide what type of paramedic training they need. 

Being a paramedic is about a lot more than lights and sirens and rushing to help someone in need.  Paramedics perform clinical procedures, administer drugs, maintain patient records and decide the most appropriate medical facility to take someone to.

  New Majors in the Bachelor of Arts

Our arts, humanities and social science courses are designed for action.  Meaning, you’ll not only build your understanding of contemporary society, but also your confidence and distinct skill set to make the difference you want to see.  As mentioned in an earlier newsletter, Swinburne is reimagining its Arts degree, and offering a range of innovative majors.  These include – 

 

 

 

  • Professional Business Cadetships
    Open to current Year 12 students, Professional Cadetships provide unparalleled opportunities.  As a Cadet, you combine study at the university of your choice with paid work at a leading company.

 

Under this program, cadets are placed in Global Research at UBS, a top-ranking investment bank.  As already mentioned, cadets combine paid work with study at the university of their choice in Melbourne, enabling them to launch their career from the start of university rather than waiting until graduation.
