Numeracy

 

The Year 8 Numeracy Team spent term 1 looking at Fractions, Decimals and Percentages, with a clear focus on ensuring that we use clear and consistent language within our classes to ensure that our students are familiar with certain terms that will be revisited throughout their future Maths lessons. Here is an example of a deconstruction of a decimal, with each column labelled with the appropriate place value. Students were then given opportunities to apply the skills learnt, identifying the place value of each number in the decimal number provided.
