Harmony Week

From the 21st to the 25th of March Craigieburn Secondary College, celebrated Harmony Week. This week, and every other week, is a time to celebrate Australian multiculturalism, and the successful integration of migrants into community.

Harmony Week, is a week to showcase how proud we all are to be part of the Craigieburn Secondary College community. Harmony Week is about inclusiveness, respect and belonging for all Australians, regardless of cultural or linguistic background, united by a set of core Australian values.

Our cultural diversity is a great strength and brings with it a whole host of traditions, languages, and of course, food! It helps us to do things in different ways, reduces discrimination, and lets us accept diversity. This year the message of Harmony Week is ‘Everyone Belongs’. Our College aims to engage students and staff to proudly celebrate who we are and to respect cultural and religious diversity, and also to create a sense of belonging for everyone. Our cultural diversity is one of our greatest strengths and is at the heart of who we are as a College.

Throughout the week, we celebrated different cultural backgrounds with dancing and paying respect to traditional owners of the land. We give big thanks to the HUME Council Deputy Mayor, Mr Sam Misho and Federal Member of Calwell, Ms Maria Vamvakinou for joining us to celebrate. Lastly, we give thanks to Ms Kate Morphy, all the students and staff that participated in making this HUGE event come to life, it highlights exactly what it means for everyone to belong!
