Environment and Sustainability news at MPW!

Environment Committee

As you will hopefully be aware, there is a Community Working Bee at MPWPS organised for Sunday 15th March, between 9am – 3pm. This will be an exciting opportunity for the MPW School Community to come together and help with several tasks including weeding, sweeping, moving crushed rock for new pathways in Jack’s paddock, and helping commence work on the proposed sensory garden, as well as general care of the school grounds. Please bring your own tools, rakes, wheelbarrows, gloves, shovels, brooms etc. Children are of course welcome (with bikes and safety gear, balls, etc). This should be a fun and productive day, and the more hands will make light work! There will also be a sausage sizzle lunch and refreshments at the end. Hopefully you can join us!

Please register your interest to attend and help out at Eventbrite on:

There is also an ongoing expression of interest for new members of the MPWPS Environment and Sustainability Sub-committee. The Environment and Sustainability Sub-Committee is a vibrant, innovative and progressive committee that reports to School Council and are always looking for more interested members of the school community to join the membership of this group.

The role of the Environment and Sustainability Sub-committee is to provide strategic direction and leadership to ensure that MPW supports and encourages best practice in regards to Environment and Sustainability issues. Sub-committee members have an opportunity to discuss and address strategies to make MPW more ‘green’ and assist with seeking and managing grants, information and any assistance that could assist our school. There is lots to do with this sub-committee and we welcome all interested parents!

The Environment and Sustainability Sub-committee meets about monthly at 6pm on a Wednesday night (next meeting Wednesday 18th March). There are approximately eight meetings each year. If you are interested in joining the Sub-Committee or being involved in some way, please contact Sandra Monaghan at the school office moonee.ponds.west.ps@edumail.vic.gov.au or contact one of the parent contacts and let them know.

The current parent contacts are Sara Melvin, Nicole Marshall, Nigel Toussaint and Bec Romano.
