Principal's Report

Term 4, Week 5

Dear Parents and Carers,

We are moving very quickly through Term 4! As we enter Week 5 today, the staff are well and truly in the process of preparing Semester Two reports, analysing results from our assessments in PAT Maths, PAT Reading and Cold Writes over the past two weeks. These reports will be made available to parents via Compass on Friday 9 December. If you need help remembering your Compass login, please do not hesitate to contact the front office.

Rain, Floods, Postponements and Cancellations

It certainly has been a rocky few weeks in regards to rain and flood waters and I hope that all our families have managed to stay safe and healthy over this time. Please do not hesitate to ask if the school can help in any way if you need any assistance. This includes support in meeting school fees if you have had interruptions to your usual income.

We really appreciate your swift action and flexibility in picking up your children a couple of weeks ago when we needed to become non-operational. It was not an ideal situation but thankfully we were able to ensure everyone was safe and accounted for. Thankfully it was only for a couple of days! Thank you to Robert Dunn and Andrew Brown who kept us well informed of the developing situation and advised when it was safe to return!

There have been a few of events which have either been postponed or cancelled altogether due to the flood waters. This includes;

Brain Olympia Cluster and Finals - both cancelled

P&F Colour Run - postponed to Friday 9 December

School Maintenance Works - postponed indefinitely

Diocesan Gala Day - cancelled

2023 Class Teachers

In today's newsletter, you will find the 2023 class teacher announcements. We are pleased to inform you that we will move to 12 classes in 2023, with a third Kindergarten class being added next year to cater for a large incoming group. Over the coming weeks, the class teachers will begin compiling class lists. There is substantial time spent considering and compiling these lists by the class teachers, with every care taken to ensure there is a balance of students in every class. However, if you wish to make a request for class placement, I am open to conversation with you in this regard. All requests are treated with confidentiality but no guarantees can be given. Should you wish to make a request, please email me directly at naradmin@arm.catholic.edu.au with CONFIDENTIAL - Nick Baird in the subject line.

Uniform Survey

Last Friday, all parents were sent a link to a Google Form requesting your thoughts on our current school uniform. There may well be no change made at all to the current uniform, however our Uniform Policy is in need of review so we thought it would be a good time to seek opinions. Responses to this form will close at 4.00pm this Friday 11 November. Staff and Stage 3 students have also been surveyed for their thoughts.

Feast Day Celebrations for St Francis Xavier

The Feast Day for our patron saint, St Francis Xavier, is held each year on 3 December. This year, we are celebrating in partnership with the local parish on Sunday 4 December. We have a Family Mass scheduled for a 9.00am start at the church, which will be followed by a picnic morning tea on the school grounds and entertainment provided by the School Band who will perform their end of year concert. We would love to see as many families as possible come along and celebrate with our parishioners at both the Mass and the concert afterwards. We will be calling for student volunteers soon for roles in the Family Mass, and we also hope to have enough students for a school choir  to sing the hymns at the mass.

Have a great week!

Nick
