Home Learning

It has been great to see how quickly and easily we were able to fall back into Home Learning the past week. Students engagement has been fantastic and reports from teachers has been that students have been getting on to see and work with their peers with a positive manner.

The strong structures established last year have allowed us to ensure that we are readily able to continue learning through Google Classroom and WebEx. To those families who are accessing these platforms first time in, we hope that the information provided by the school and classroom teachers enabled you to pick it up quickly.

Please remember there is a Remote Learning section on our school website, that contains help videos and supporting information.

Curriculum Day

We have postponed our scheduled Curriculum Day with Misty Andoniou from last week until Term 3 due to the lockdown. Misty will be working with staff on enhancing the links between Reading and Writing, focusing on using Mentor Texts to improve the complexity of the craft of writing as we move up the school.

Dress Code Review Feedback

Thank you to the Working Party members for putting together the survey for staff and community feedback around the Dress Code Review. We have had a large response rate of just over 250 responses, which is fantastic.

JSC is seeking feedback form the student group. The Working Party has begun summarising the feedback for the Education Committee, who will make recommendations for the policy to School Council.

Semester 1 Reports

Due to the lockdown, we have pushed back the Reporting Timeline to allow teachers to finalise their assessments during this period. Semester Reports will now be published on Compass on Thursday 24th June in the last week of term.

Please remember that Semester Reports now have condensed commentary about student achievement in the report itself, as most of this has already been communicated through our Ongoing Reporting tasks throughout each term.  Semester Reports should be complemented by the rubrics and samples already provided. The other element of our reporting is the Progress Reports which are published at the end of each term, focussing on behaviour and effort to learning in the classroom.
