Student Persuasive Writing

The 3/4 students have been working on persuasive writing.  They chose their own topics - something they are passionate about.  There's been some fantastic work overall, but we wanted to share one particularly special piece with you. Tinashe has chosen to write about why students should come to BHCS.  She has captured beautifully some of the things we love about our school, from a students' perspective.  We have included an excerpt below. Well done Tinashe!

I strongly and definitely believe that students should come to BHCS!!! (BHCS stands for Belgrave Heights Christian School)

Have you experienced God and Jesus? Do you love making friends? Do you like catching the bus or going to before and after school care? Do you like having celebrations at your school? Does your school go from kinder to high school? Why don't you have a look at BHCS? It is a great school to learn.

Firstly, BHCS lets you choose if you want to believe about God or Jesus, or not. It is a great opportunity to pray to God and Jesus. You can also learn that Jesus died on the cross for us. Have you heard about the Bible? Bibles tell you about the Old Testament and the New Testament. For example "Be still and know that I am God." Psalm 46:10. Bible verses can make you learn and believe about God and Jesus. If you do believe in God and Jesus it can help you to understand things in Christian Studies. In Christian Studies you learn about things that have happened in the past. It also tells you when Jesus was born, and what happened before Jesus was born.

Secondly, making friends can make you happy because you can play with your friends. Our school has lots of friendly and nice people to have fun with, play with, talk to and you can ask your friends to help you. Having friends means you won't be lonely and scared.  If you are being yourself it can be helpful to others and the teacher. It is nice to have someone by your side. When I first went to BHCS I was scared, but when I had some awesome friends next to me, I didn't feel scared or lonely anymore, I felt happy, Yay!! Making friends is awesome!! You also have your amazing friendly teachers too (including the amazing and friendly Principal Mr Callow). They will also show you around the school and show you around the different classrooms.

Thirdly, we have buses that you can catch in the morning and in the afternoon. If children catch the bus you won't have to worry about going to BHCS, you just go to the bus stop that is closest to where you live, (that the bus drops a child at) and you won't have to worry about anything else. If you don't worry about getting your child and then bringing him/her home, you can do your own things or relax. Relaxing is the life to be. And it doesn't cost much to go on the bus.

We also have before and after school care. In before and after school care you can do art and craft such as hama beads, drawing, painting, pipe cleaners, tracing and more. We always love to get outside and play as well. We have balls, skipping ropes and lots more equipment you can use. If you are hungry in the morning, we have breakfast such as; cereal, toast and fruit. If you are hungry in the afternoon, we have some healthy and delicious snacks such as; rice cakes, fruit, veggies, noodles, and lots more. It doesn't cost much either.

Finally BHCS goes from kinder to high school. Our school goes from kinder to high school so you don't have to move schools. You also don't have to change schools when you are in year 7 especially. When you finish Grade 6 you can just move to BHCS and then you don't have to move again. Most schools are kinder, prep to grade 4, middle school or high school. So why move school when you have a fantastic school called BHCS where you don't have to move?

Therefore I strongly and definitely believe students should come to BHCS!!!
