GARDENING NEWS

The Patch Garden Club
Well, it has been a fantastic term in the Garden club. After the January school holidays, we were treated with hundreds of tomatoes on our plants that grew from tiny little seedlings. Each week, we picked ripe red tomatoes and cleared the beds of weeds. It has been a joy watching the children getting close to nature, marvelling at bugs, pulling out weeds and finding tomatoes hiding under leaves.
We sold so many tomatoes, we raised $115! This money will go towards buying more plants, soil and implements for our Patch. Thank you for supporting the sales and we hope you enjoyed this delicious fruit. Some lucky people were treated to some spring onions as well.
Next term, we head into winter, so we will be looking to plant Bok choy, snow peas, garlic, spinach, mint, parsley and coriander (we will try coriander!) April is the perfect time to plant these veggies and herbs, so after a couple of weeks rest for our soil, we will start term 2, ready to plant again.
Thank you to Heather Miller, who attends regularly to help and join in the fun! Please come along and join in if you would like to. Garden club is on Wednesdays from 11:10-11:40am. You can come any time as well and help to pull out weeds or tidy the beds if another day suits you.
Have a lovely break and happy Easter!
