Hi Holy Family Parents,

Today I am sharing a Foundation through Year 2 website that has freely available resources. 

The Literacy Hill Blog, An Australian site created by a teacher, is a great ‘go to’ if you are looking for some ideas for at home activities, background information or some further clarity on some LIteracy lingo (of course you are always welcome to come ask the very helpful teachers at Holy Family too!)

When you hear teachers and educational staff discuss the CODE, we are talking about the alphabetic principle, which is that letters and letter patterns represent sounds in spoken language. The infographic above illustrates how you might support  your child at home to learn the English Code and by doing so, you are also supporting best practices that we have been implementing at Holy Family.  I will keep these updates brief but frequent, so be sure to check back soon.
