Dear Marian Catholic College Community

Late last year I had the privilege of working with Marian’s new Yr 12 Student Leaders at the CEDWW Student Leaders Day at CSU. Their major wish, they told me, was to lead school events, in person, after having experienced a long period of Covid restrictions placed on schools. They have delivered on this goal well and truly in this term. So I would like to say to our school captains, Elizabeth Romeo, Lachlan Chant, Jess Morasachi and Charlie O’Sullivan, and to all of our Yr 12 Prefects, our House Captains and peer support leaders -thank you! Thank you for your outstanding efforts and support for all of the students in this school.  Thank you also this week to our staff for their leadership and hard work on behalf of our students. Special thanks to those involved in organising and supporting the Holy Thursday Liturgy this morning and the Cross Country event this afternoon.

To everyone involved in Harmony Day last Friday and especially to Mr Abdala and Mrs Lole-what an incredible effort! The performances were excellent and the food amazing! It was a very moving experience to be part of. Harmony Day demonstrated the spirit of belonging we want all of our students and families to experience during their time here. Belonging is a very special feeling. It doesn’t rely on being the same as everyone else. Belonging is about showing respect for the dignity of all. This is a  core gospel value-respecting and valuing our different gifts, our unique talents and valuing the contribution made by everyone to our community. Belonging also relies on the values of forgiveness and reconciliation-an essential part of the Easter story.

To all of our students and staff at Marian, I hope you feel very proud of your contribution and your participation this term.  If you go into this holiday, knowing you have given your own personal best, then well done! If this term not everything has not gone to plan, then make this a goal for next term. To come to school to learn, participate and to support each other and give it your best effort.

We begin Term 2, in Winter Uniform, with a pupil-free day on Monday, celebrating Anzac Day at the Cenotaph on Tuesday 25th, with school commencing for all students on Wednesday 26th of April.

Until this time, on behalf of all of the College, I wish you a very blessed and loving Easter and a safe and happy holiday. We also warmly welcome and encourage all families to join us for the  Easter Sunday Mass held in the Marcellin Hall at 9am.
