My Case, My Country

Senior school expo

On Tuesday 4th April, the senior students held an expo to showcase their Term 1 Inquiry unit project, My Case, My Country.

This unit explored the importance of migration to the growth and development of Australia and exposed students to positive and negative stories and experiences of immigration. Students read personal accounts of immigrants as they made a new life for themselves in Australia. The culmination of this unit saw students interview a family member or friend with an Immigration story, or research a famous figure and learn about their history.

Students wrote an information report on their person and created a suitcase with items (or replicas) that they bought with them on their journey to Australia. Students presented their suitcases to the students in other year levels, as well as parents and family members who joined us in the afternoon for the showcase.
