We acknowledge the Traditional Owners of the land on which our school stands,
the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nation.
Dear Families and Friends,
It has been another busy term at St Justin’s. Whilst it has been busy, we have much to be thankful for. We thank you all for your contributions and wish you all a very safe and Holy Easter break with your loved ones.
This week the Gospel reading retells the story of Jesus washing the feet of the disciples. The disciples are most surprised that someone so special, a teacher and a leader, should bother to wash the feet of his servants. We are reminded that as teachers, often words are not enough; that our actions speak louder than words. Like Jesus, we too pray that our actions are an example to all, especially the younger ones in our care. We pray that we are never “too important” to do the difficult things for the ones we love.
Congratulations to Fr Andrew who celebrated his 26th Anniversary as a Priest on Wednesday 5th April. We are blessed to have such a wonderful Parish Priest.
Term 2 will commence on Wednesday 26th April. We have a School Closure Day (Monday 24th April) and the Anzac Public Holiday (Tuesday 25th April). Enjoy a well deserved break!
Due to circumstances out of our control our swimming program will not be taking place in Term 2 at SwimWorld. Swimming will now take place in weeks 1 and 2 of Term 3 at Paul Sadler Swimland in Rowville. More details in relation to times and parents helpers will follow next term.
Thank you for understanding in relation to this issue and we are sorry for any inconvenience.
Most of us now would be well aware that the AFL Football season is well and truly underway. It’s hard to turn on the television or read the paper without seeing one of the 18 clubs represented. Without listening to the television or reading the newspaper article, we can easily identify which team is which simply because of their uniform. The uniform is a powerful symbol indicating which team a player belongs to.
Likewise, our school uniform is a powerful sign that we belong – we belong to the St Justin’s community and we too, should be proud. Please ensure your child is wearing the correct school uniform.
A friendly reminder to please follow the safe road crossing procedure when at the School Crossing.
STOP, LOOK, LISTEN and THINK.
Please ensure that the staff carpark is not used for parking or as a drop off / pick up zone. This can create a very unsafe environment, especially when staff are also entering their work place to park their car. Sometimes people think that certain rules don't apply to them - not only is this unfair on others but it creates an unsafe environment. It is important that we model to our children that rules and expectations are there for everyone, not just a few. It transfers to other situations that they may experience in life, including the classroom and playground.
There has been a growing trend in schools in relation to a drink called Prime. It is becoming a popular trend among school children.
Prime Energy is not suitable for people under 18 years of age to consume, as it contains double the legal limit of caffeine as per Australian Government Regulations and SIX times the amount included in a regular caffeinated soft drink.
A reminder that "fizzy drinks" or "health drinks" can not be brought to school. Students should only bring water in a clearly labelled drink bottle. Drinks, like food, should not be shared with others. Students are also reminded that we have a number of drinking taps around the school which they are more than welcome to use.
Macs Concessional Fee Applications are due by Monday 3rd April 2023. Application forms are available from the office.
Have a safe and Holy Easter.
Take care,
Mr Patrick Torpey
