From the Principal's Desk

A hectic Term 1 finishes on Thursday of this week and it is time for parents/carers, students and staff to rest, relax and recharge for the start of Term 2.

THANK YOU to the Athol Road Primary School staff who work together to provide the best learning opportunities for the students who attend our school.  Parents/carers are not always aware of the extra time that the staff put in on a daily basis over and above the required 38 hours. Leadership is aware of that time and is very appreciative of the commitment of all staff in all areas of the school.

THANK YOU to the parents/carers who have supported the staff in their various roles during Term 1. A supportive home/school partnership is crucial to the wellbeing and learning of every student.

RETIREMENT

CONGRATULATIONS to Mrs Concessio who is retiring have 22 years in education at the end of Term 1.  Mrs Concessio has been an integration at Southvale and Athol Road Primary Schools, having worked most of her years with the junior students.

The Athol Road Primary School community wishes Mrs Concessio a happy retirement where she can spend more time with her family, especially her beloved grandchildren.

ABSENCE AND LATENESS

Absence and lateness continue to be concerns that significantly impact student learning.  Students who are not at school cannot learn, teachers cannot teach them and there are only so many hours in any given day.

If your child is genuinely ill, they should not come to school BUT there are many occasions when students stay home from school when they could be at school learning.

THANK YOU to those parents/carers who have ensured that their child/ren have attended school every day that they are well enough.  You are supporting your child’s education in a very tangible way.

REQUIRED ACTION: When students stay home, parents/carers need to provide the school with a medical certificate.

HAVE A HAPPY, RELAXING HOLIDAY EVERYONE!
