Head of Students News

Mr Peter Serone

ANZAC Day March

Anzac Day falls on Tuesday 25 April (Week 2, Term 2). The traditional march will take place with all students invited to attend. The march starts at 7:30am from Betheden Terrace, Ashgrove, and proceeds outbound on Waterworks Road to Ashgrove Memorial Park.

We will gather behind St Finbarr's Catholic Church at 7:15am. The ceremony commences at 7:45am and runs for approximately 45 minutes.

I'd like to remind students that they are to wear their full winter uniform, ensuring it is clean and presentable, including the formal hat. Blazers are required for students in Years 5, 11, and 12.

Walkathon Launch

The Walkathon this year is on Sunday 21 May. The official launch will take place during assembly on Wednesday.

The College will again be using a cashless system, and donations to the Parents & Friends Association can be made easily via this link: https://events.humanitix.com/mca-walkathon-2023

This year, the Walkathon aims to raise funds for making yard improvements, including the redevelopment of the multiplex court to improve facilities for students.

Student participation on Sunday 21 May is compulsory, and if for any reason your son cannot attend, please ensure you contact his Head of House or Year 5-6 Pastoral Leader prior to the Walkathon. A reminder that College activities take precedence over Club commitments.

We encourage you to come along and walk with your sons for this special College event.

Year 7 and 10 Immunisation Programs Year 7 students who have parental consent to participate in the immunisation program will be receiving their Diphtheria, tetanus, and pertussis (whooping cough) vaccine (dTpa) this Thursday.

Immunisation packs were distributed to all Year 10 students last Friday. Parents are asked to complete the consent form and return it to Student Admin as soon as possible. If your son has not received an immunisation pack, please ask him to come to Student Admin to collect one.

Responsible Thinking Classroom – Parent Notification

As part of the College’s student management, teachers will make use of the Responsible Thinking Process including the Responsible Thinking Classroom (RTC) when students are removed from class, sent to the RTC, giving time out to reflect on their behaviour.

The room provides a place for students to reflect on problematic behaviour and develop a plan to move forward in a positive way, and for classroom re-entry when applicable.

The process assists a student to reflect on their behaviour, search within and make choices about their behaviour to reach their learning goals without disrupting others.

When students are removed from class to the RTC, parents will receive a notification through Parent Lounge.
