Changes to Sport Lessons and Updates

Earlier this week you would have received a Compass alert outlining the changes to sport lessons and updates -

  1. Mr Simpson will be taking leave as he heads back to England to spend time with his family. Mr Simpson’s leave will begin next week and he will return to St Margaret Mary’s in Week 2 of Term 2. We wish Mr Simpson safe travels. In his absence, St MM’s will employ Mr Paul O Seanchain for sport lessons.                                             Due to Mr O Seanchain’s availability, sport lessons will take place on Monday and Wednesday for the remainder of Term 1 and the first week of Term 2. Once Mr Simpson returns, it will go back to Wednesday and Thursdays. Please send your child in their sports uniform on Monday and Wednesday (beginning next week) for the remainder of the term.
  2. St MM’s will host a cross country trial for students aged 8 years or older on Thursday March 31.   Parent helpers will be needed so if you are available, could you please indicate so on the note.
  3. Unfortunately we have had to make the decision to cancel ST MM’s participation in the Rugby Union Gala Day that was due to take place next Wednesday. At this time, we are experiencing our biggest spike in COVID cases with both students and staff. This has made it extremely difficult to organise student attendance, teams and teachers attending. We thank you for your understanding and look forward to having the students participate in upcoming events.
  4. While Mr Simpson is away, I will assist with organising sport, so if you have any sport queries, please direct them to me.

Whole School Assembly

Our Monday whole school assembly that occurs at 2.45pm in even weeks will now take place on the top playground and not via Zoom. Parents are very welcome to join us onsite this coming Monday at 2.45pm for our first face to face assembly for Term 1! On Monday afternoons in the odd week, there will be a short music showcase led by our music teacher Mr Webb. This will also take place at 2.45pm and parents are welcome to attend.

National Ride2School Day

Our SRC are advertising the National Ride2School Day to take place on Friday March 25. This National Day encourages healthy choices by encouraging students to ride, walk, scoot or skate to school. On this day, the students will be asked to wear their clothes that represent their colour team - so students in the green team wear green, students in the blue team wear blue etc. They will also bring in a gold coin donation on this day to assist flood victims.
