House Athletics Results
On Thursday 3 March, we were blessed with great, although hot, weather for the annual Senior School House Athletics Carnival. This year, it took place at the Bill Sewart Athletics Track in Burwood East, due to the refurbishing of the Tom Kelly Track in Doncaster East, where we usually hold this event.
After being outperformed in the swimming three weeks before, the Tabor Trojans (White House) came through strong by winning the House Athletics by 45 points! Gibeon Warriors (Red House) came second, and Zion Crusaders (Blue House) finished in third place. See below for final scores. The three Houses started the Carnival with a chant competition towards their points for the House Spirit trophy, which created an excellent atmosphere for students to start the competition.
It was great to see the number of students participating for their Houses, making it a close competition throughout the day. Gibeon Warriors (Red House) stayed close to White House, and at one stage, even overtook them by one point, to end up in second place. The Warriors again showed the best House Spirit on the day and won the Spirit trophy for the second time this year.
The final scores for the day are as follows:
| Gibeon Warriors (Red) | Tabor Trojans (White) | Zion Crusaders (Blue) |
---|---|---|---|
Track Scores | 1012 | 1089 | 978 |
Field Scores | 711 | 679 | 662 |
Total Scores | 1,723 | 1,768 | 1,640 |
We had one record broken this year and that was in the Girls U/16 Shot Put. Congratulations to Summer Lee (10.18) who broke the record, in place since 1993, from 9.82m to 10.05m. Joshua Chacko (10.18) almost broke a shot put record, standing since 1989. The record is 12.42m and Josh just came short, at 12.41m. Congratulations to Josh on a good effort.
Age Champion Athletes
Age Champions calculations are based on results in the events run on the day and the points the individual students gained for their House. Congratulations to the top three students for each year level and gender (listed below).

EISM Inter-School Athletics Competition
The EISM Inter-School Athletics Division 2 competition will take place during week two of Term 2 on Tuesday 3 May 2022. More details about this event will be published closer to the event.
Students who won for their age group at the House Athletics will represent Oxley at this event. The fastest 100m runners will be selected for the relay team for their age group. Unfortunately, there is only discus for U/14, U/16 and Open at the EISM level. We hope to do well in this competition and strongly encourage students who won their events to focus on training and to attend the Fitness (Running) Group on Thursday afternoons at 3.45pm, meeting on Court 3 in the Stadium. The names of selected students will be posted on the Stadium noticeboard.
