Georgie Rowsell
Hello SMPS community.
I am thrilled to have the opportunity to serve you for a second term on the SMPS School Council!
My son, Billy (4C), and I have been a part of SMPS since it opened in 2018. Some of your children may have seen me volunteering and helping our wonderful teachers on school excursions or at school events such as the Athletics Day. They’re really fun days!
Along with SMPS teachers and some other parents and carers of SMPS students, I helped establish the SMPS Family and Friends group late in 2020. (The FAF.) I am currently, and proudly, serving as the FAF’s President.
I look forward to supporting our SMPS students via the School Council and the FAF in 2022.
Jelena Brkic
My name is Jelena Brkic. My daughter Karolina is in Grade 1A with Ms Charlie. I am a lawyer and in my spare time I like to cook (and eat!) and watch tennis (I have tried playing but let’s just say I am not quitting my day job any time soon). If you see me around please let me know of any ideas or issues that you would like me to help with as your School Council member.

Introduction to come soon as Xavier is overseas at present.
We will be celebrating Term 1 with an Easter Hat Display on the final day of school (Friday 8th April). All students from Prep to Grade 6 are encouraged to participate by making or decorating a hat to model during the display. We have included pictures of some examples for inspiration. We encourage you to use recycled items wherever possible.
Donations wanted for Easter Raffle
SMPS Family and Friends Association is running an Easter Raffle on the last day of Term 1 Friday, April 8th. In order to run the raffle, we are requesting donations of Easter eggs that'll go towards making some great prizes. One egg, two eggs, or a packet of chocolate eggs. All will be greatly appreciated. Please hand in your Easter egg donations to the office by Thursday, March 31. We'll be asking the SMPS children to sell tickets to their friends and and family for $1 each. Tickets will be sent home with the students next week. Please head to the FAF newsletter page for more information.
Miss Jenny is on leave visiting family overseas until we return in Term 2. We are grateful to Mr Matt Woolard for filling the Wellbeing Chair for the last two weeks of this term. Mr Matt has a solid understanding of the students due to a thorough handover with Miss Jenny. He is also a familiar face at our school as he was our Wellbeing Leader early 2021. We are sure that Mr Matt will be made to feel very welcome again.
School Photographs are timeless possessions that can be enjoyed for many years to come. The School has organised MSP Photographers to attend the school on Wednesday 30 March. Families will be able to order individual child and sibling photos via Compass two weeks before and until one week following the Photo Day. Please keep your eye out for Compass Newsfeed notifications over the coming weeks.
Students must wear full academic school uniform on the day.
Over the two years some of our iPads have been returned with either a broken charger or no charger at all. Due to this we are running low on spare chargers and are calling out for some support. If any families have old and working Apple iPad chargers laying around your home, the school is asking for donations please. Thank you so much!
to those who have already in receipt of CSEF funding from previous years, you will now be able to see your unallocated receipt of $125 against your account on Compass and when paying for the school contributions you can include this figure for the excursion/incursion levy. To our new families, the Camps, Sports and Excursions Fund (CSEF) provides payments for eligible students to attend activities like:
The deadline to apply for CSEF is June 24, 2022 in order to be granted funding for this year. Families who hold a valid concession card or temporary foster parents are eligible to apply.
