HUMANITIES

On 2nd March our Year 7 students had a fantastic afternoon in the sun exploring their local suburbs of Brighton and Brighton East. With two years of on and off remote learning, they were eager to get outside the classroom and conduct learning in the field.

As Year 7 Humanities kicks off with Geography, it would be rude not to run an excursion! All hands were on deck, with some students evaluating the purposefulness of the Dendy Park Recreational Hub, whilst other students measured the efficiency of the local shopping variety.

These interpretations and views are sure to come in handy when the students become urban planners and design a liveable hub for their first Humanities CAT.

Thank you to Mrs Burley and Mr Connell for all of your hard work organising this fantastic learning afternoon and to all the staff who attended!

In other Humanities news, the BSC PFA kindly gave the Humanities a grant to purchase some wonderful new resources for use in our classrooms in 2022. We now have three lovely "Australia" displays to support our Geography and Civics teaching and learning programs. Pictured here are maps purchased with our grant alongside the Year 7 I&E classes posters exploring "Australian Values". Also pictured is our Year 7 ELHES classes using individual whiteboards (also purchased using the grant) to support their participation in a socratic seminar.

Many thanks to the PFA for your ongoing hard work and support of our BSC staff and students.
