AROUND THE SCHOOL
1st week of Lent - "I will carry you and always keep you safe."
It is coming up to that time of the year again where we will be celebrating Easter. We are asking families, if you are able, to make a small Easter themed donation to be used as raffle prizes or to be used in hampers, to please send it to school with your child or drop off at the office.
Raffle tickets will go home shortly and purchasing will be via CDFpay.
16 jumpers were retrieved from lost property today. Only 3 of these were named and have been returned to their owners.
ALL unnamed uniform items will be washed and placed in the 2nd hand uniform shop.
The Sacrament of Reconciliation will be held on Thursday 17th March at 6pm in the church. Only students who have completed the Reconciliation workbook will be able to participate. 2 emails have gone home with the details. The school will not be following up on families that have not responded. Workbooks are $20 and payable to the Parish office. Please call Ann if you have any queries regarding payment on 5662 2020.

2021 cancelled student levies activities: Last year the Foundation, Gr1 & Gr 2 classes did not go on their excursion due to restrictions, therefore, those student levies have been credited back to those families accounts. The amount of this credit was $75.70 and will be reflected on your 2022 accounts. Please note that the 3, 4 and 5, 6 classes were able to utilise all of their levies with swimming and camp, so no credits were issued for those year levels.
Overdue 2021: Please finalise 2021 accounts as soon as possible please, unless you are on a payment plan. Please contact Liz on principal@stlleongatha.catholic.edu.au if you are experiencing difficulties in meeting your school fee obligations and we can certainly assist your family. Any 2021 fee accounts that remain unpaid and no contact has been made with the school with your intentions, will be forwarded onto DOSCEL at the end of term 1.
Health Care Card Holders: For families who hold a current HealthCare Card, you may be eligible for a substantial subsidy off your school fees.
Please contact the office if you would like more information or to request an application form to receive the Camps, Sports and Excursion Funding from the government. Only NEW families to the CSEF need to apply. Those who applied last year will roll over to this year.
All fees are due before the end of term 1, Thursday 7th April, unless on a payment plan or have made contact with the office or informed the office of your intentions via the fee intentions letter/form.
Last Friday, we had a really productive day at the District Swimming Carnival. The students participated with fantastic sportsmanship and endeavour all day, even in cold conditions. We had many great performances, with 21 students qualifying for the Division carnival this Friday.
We were also very successful on the overall points board, coming 3rd overall (behind I.K and Leongatha) and, we did win the handicap trophy!
I was extremely proud of how our students conducted themselves all day, with the older students showing the way; taking great care of the younger students. The younger students also really embraced the opportunity and gave their absolute best, and even took a couple of DQ's on the chin and bounced back straight away.
The under 9's were hugely successful on the day, however they won't progress through to Division, unless their times were faster than the 10 age group. Some of these under 9's may be disappointed not to continue onto division, but next year I'm sure they will get their opportunity.
Also, our under 12/13 boys came 4th in every race, but they kept fighting for that 3rd every time. It was great to see. The place getters were:

On Friday the 25th of February, the Division swimming team was back in the water at Korumburra Pool with 21 students participating. Again, our students gave their absolute best in the pool and supported each other all day on the pool deck.
With only the 1st place in each race qualifying for the Regional Championships (and some next fastest positions on time), it's a tough ask to get through to those championships, However all our students should be extremely proud of their efforts. Congratulations to all our swimmers on the fantastic swimming over the past few weeks.

Week 1 LENT
The Lord said:
"Even when you are old I will be the same, and I will take care of you. I created you, and I will carry you and always keep you safe." - From the book of the prophet Isaiah 46:4
Gathered before God our Father, let us pray for those who work in the world.
For the insight to recognise Jesus in others.
For the kindness to welcome strangers.
For the generosity to share with the needy.
For those who visit the sick and elderly.
For the prayers in our hearts today.
We pray to you.
AMEN
