Head of Junior School

I am always so impressed by the way our Junior School students embrace school life. Over the past fortnight they have been involved in the Colour Run, Harmony Day, Year 6 Experience Day, Year 4 Science Day, their class Assemblies, Sport, NAPLAN Practise Tests, and CIS Swimming. They have embraced our co-curricular programme of After School Assistance, Drama Club, Light, Chess, Dance Group, Maker Space, Concert Band, Choir and Cross Country Training. There is so much on offer at Calrossy, and nothing goes to waste.
I have been particularly impressed by the introduction of student run initiates at lunch and take great prides in our students who are keen to give back to their school community. I have seen our SRC go from strength to strength over the years and this term they have really shown great enthusiasm for the projects that have undertaken at school.
I am so proud of our students, for the effort they put into their learning and the way they embody our school values of selflessness, integrity, inclusiveness, and resilience. It is a delight to come to school each day.
Did you know… we have a House Points system in the school. Students can earn house points for anything and each week the House Captain announce the weekly leaders and update us on the points. After nine weeks of school, here are the current standings:
- Cuthbert 3935 points
- Sheean 3895 points
- Nicholls 3875 points
- Hamlin 3755 points
Who will be the eventual winning House in the Term 1 competition?
Hot Tip: Try replacing directions with thought-provoking questions. Instead of saying, pack your bag, put on your shoes, and find your hat, ask: What do you need to get ready for school? The idea is to nudge children toward assuming greater responsibility. Replacing directions with questions can help increase awareness of patterns and routines, releasing the onus of self-management to children.
Have a wonderful week.
