HSC Minimum Standards Tests 2019

All students sitting the Higher School Certificate from 2021 onwards will be required to demonstrate a minimum standard of literacy and numeracy in order to receive the HSC through completing three online tests in reading, writing and numeracy. Students require these reading, writing and maths skills to be successful in everyday life after school.Students will have multiple opportunities to achieve these minimum standards if they do not do so the first time.

All students in Year 10 will sit practice tests late in Term 1 to prepare them for the tests later in the year.

In addition, the NESA websitehas sample questions and answers for all three tests to further aid students to understand the skills required to meet the HSC minimum standard in each test. Students can also undertake demonstration tests to further familiarise themselves with the type of questions and functionality of taking an online test.

NAPLAN 2019

This year NAPLAN testing will be taking place online. NAPLAN Online will provide better assessment, more precise results and faster turnaround of information.

NAPLAN Online features ‘tailored testing’ which gives students questions that are more suited to their ability – resulting in better assessment and more precise results.

Significant planning, development, research and trialing has been carried out to make sure we are all ready to move

NAPLAN online.

The testing will take place between Tuesday 14 May and Friday 24 May 2019. Students will also undertake a practice test during Week 10, Term 1 to experience themselves with the assessment tool.

In addition, the public demonstration site has been updated and demonstration tests are live for students to access. This site can be used by students to familiarise themselves with the type of questions and related functionalities available in the NAPLAN Online Assessment. Some of the key features include a range of question types, onscreen tools, timers and interactive navigation.
