A Prayer for Christchurch

Students and staff have taken the opportunity this week to visit the Marian Centre for memorial prayers for Christchurch. The Marian Centre is open each week on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 8.30am to 8.45am for students to avail themselves of a quiet place for reflection and prayer.

God of all people,

In a world where we pride ourselves on sharing the freedom of religious diversity and expression, we remain deeply troubled by these terror attacks at two Mosques in Christchurch. We stand together, in solidarity with the Muslim community, whose members lives have been taken. We pray for those families who are traumatised and who grieve the loss of their loved ones. We feel your pain and we pray for your healing and hope for a different future.

In these times of uncertainty and human frailty, we need to remember, it doesn’t matter what faith, what race or what background you’re from. We bleed the same blood and these attacks are a bitter reminder of how precious each human life is. We continue to pray for the victims of terrorism in all its forms, regardless of its source and we remember that terrorism has no religion, no homeland and no place in a just and peaceful world.

Through education we pray that the next generation will regard all people, as equals. May our places of worship stand as a reminder of the hope we all share and may our communities reach out to our neighbours in peace and love.  Amen

Caritas Australia - Project Compassion

Over the last 2 weeks, our Students have been making regular donations to Project Compassion in Homegroups. The theme this year is based around hope and giving Lent 100%. Hope enables us to rise above our fears and helps those in great need to shape a better future for their communities. Hope is one of the three pillars of Christian virtue. The other two being faith and charity. It is a powerful force for good and often helps to transform lives. Hope helps us to face life’s challenges and sustains us as we work alongside the most marginalised and vulnerable communities to achieve better lives.

Based on God’s love for all, hope enables us to rise above our fears and helps those in great need to shape a better future for their communities.

Thank you for your on-going support of charitable giving to Project Compassion and supporting our Homegroup challenge during Lent.

St Vincent de Paul Easter Raffle

Our Easter Raffle raises funds to support St Vincent de Paul Initiatives here in Wagga. We encourage each Student to support the Raffle by donating an item of Easter Confectionery, Gift Bags or Baskets to build the prizes. Donations are slowly trickling in and we encourage everyone to get behind this cause and contribute an item in the coming weeks. Raffle tickets to sell for $1.00 each, have been distributed via Homegroup. Once sold, please return these to the College Office. Students are encouraged to bring their donations into School and pass these onto their Homegroup Teacher. Thank you for showing your support!
