Year 5/6 Community

In our Year 5 / 6 Community, our activities leading up to Harmony Day/Week included in-depth discussions, cultural research and Australian history appreciative moments. We embraced Harmony Week’s true essence by searching for the beauty and richness of each unique culture and made comparisons to our own backgrounds. Across our cohort we had over 16 nationalities; each offered a different cuisine, language and traditions.

Harmony Week reminded us to maintain our inner balance and peace by appreciating one another and accepting every culture without prejudice. We were all very excited to share our findings by creating friendly posters which represented our findings.

Furthermore, the Year 6’s completed Harmony Week activities with the Preps while the Year 5’s rattled their brains with crossword puzzles.

A hint of orange, a splash of love and a sprinkle of harmony spread across our community this week! :)

This week is Harmony Week.  It is a time to celebrate Australian multiculturalism and the successful integration of migrants into our community. Australia is one of the most multicultural countries in the world and we should celebrate this.

Harmony Week is about inclusiveness, respect and belonging for all Australians, no matter what our  cultural background is. These values also align with the values of Corpus Christi so  it is important that we remember them when representing our school.

Orange is the colour chosen to represent Harmony Week. Orange represents social communication and meaningful conversations. It also relates to the freedom of ideas and encouragement of mutual respect.

Check out Alexis, Ai, Leni and Greta from Year 1/2 wearing their fabulous orange accessories to celebrate Harmony Week!

The students have done a fabulous job celebrating Harmony Week in the classroom.

Check out their awesome work!
