WHAT’S HAPPENING IN YEAR 2

Term 1  Wrap Up

The Grade 2’s had a wonderful time on their recent excursion where they experienced the Willum Warrain Cultural Tour. A big thank you to our parent helpers Jayne, Jayde and Carla for coming along to help out.

Excursion

On the excursion we went on the bus to Willum Warrain in Indigenous language, in Australian language it means home by the sea. First we had our fruit and we also had our snack. I had some twisties and I had some strawberries and grapes also raspberries. I had rubbish for the first time EVER! I yelled at my mum when i finished school. When I finished my fruit and snack we went into the shed and they introduced themselves they told us how to say hello in their language we and 2W had to get in roll order and we got split into three groups and got a tour. Willum Warrain

On Monday we went on an excursion. On the bus I sat next to Logan. When we got there we had snack and fruit. After that we went in the shed and our Tour Guide introduced themselves. Then we went outside. We went in a hut and it was dark. Then we went to the children’s hut it was cosy. Next we tasted the salt bush and it was yu. After that we went back to the shed and they told a story. They told us that Port Phillip Bay was once a grassland. Next they showed a possum skin coat. On the bus back to school we stopped at the park and we played for a bit and it was fun. The end.

Willum Warrain

On Monday at 9:50 we got on the bus for our excursion. When we got there we ate our snack. Then we got split into groups. The first place I went was the hut. They talked about how many got knocked down and why they put wire in it. Next they took us to two trees, they both are scar trees one about stories and the other for using and making. Then we saw three special plants, and this is technically a plant Bidgy Widgy, I know what it is. It’s Bindys. Saltbush was one of the three plants. It is edible, I only ate a few. Next in this very sharp plant, that they were used to cut. The last one we have it this seen in a plant that looks like wheat, the seed can be mashed up into sugar. We had a look at the eel Pun Pun and the turtle Pun Pun.
