Prep - Year 6
Head of Primary Update
It was wonderful to have another parent morning tea last week. The Year 6 Hospitality Team met Mrs Naomi Armstrong early in the morning to set up the foyer. They then had the opportunity to serve the parents who were able to stay.
Icypoles
These continue to be sold each lunchtime for 50c. Students are encouraged to bring the correct change if possible. Our student leaders are doing a very efficient job serving the line of students at the beginning of lunch each day.

Prep B News
In Prep B, we are learning about 2D shapes. We have been counting the sides and corners of each shape and learning their names. It has especially been fun to look for examples of 2D shapes in our school and create artwork with them in our classroom. We have made a robot out of squares, a fish out of triangles and a garden out of circles.
Class 1/2 J News
Dexter and Minnie bought their dogs for Show and Tell, very cute puppies! Samuel found a nest in the grounds. We enjoyed team games with our buddy class 3/4C. Our Big Write topic made us feel very hungry with the list of foods that the hungry caterpillar ate. Over and all, another busy and productive week in and out of the classroom.
Leadership Day
The Primary Captains spent a day on North Campus learning more about leadership and their leadership roles. They spent time brainstorming, reflecting and finding ways to improve the Primary School. Speech writing and presentation was a focus as well as a session developing a class prayer for each Primary Class. Leadership games and a pizza lunch topped the day off!
Year 3/4 Little Woodworkers Incursion
Last Friday 3 March, all the Years 3 and 4 students had a woodwork incursion with a teacher named Jim. Firstly, Jim showed us all the wood work tools and how to use them safely. If we haven’t told you already the company is called The Little Woodworkers.
Secondly, we were taught how to make bird feeders. We had to wear protective glasses and earmuffs. Jim gave each of us a roof, walls, a floor, some rope, screws, a hammer and nails. He showed us how to use them to build our own birdhouse.
Last of all, we got to make anything we wanted out of recycled wood offcuts. This saved the offcuts from going into landfill. We felt so grown up and had so much fun!

Year 3/4 AFL Incursion
The Year 3/4s were the lucky ones this year to have their first of two AFL Play incursions on Tuesday 7 March. Each class had 45 minutes of footy fun, practising different skills with Jackson (the coach) and learning different things about AFL. It was great to see so many students’ smiling, exercising and having fun. Who knows, maybe in years to come we’ll have an AFL player! A reminder that the second AFL Play incursion will be on Tuesday 14 March. All year 3/4s students need to come in their PE uniform.
Jogging Club News
Well done to all those students (and parents on Friday mornings) that have been coming to jogging club. It’s been a great start to the year! Keep up the good work. We’ve got a few students that have already run 50 laps this year, and new students joining all the time. Just a reminder of jogging club times: Mondays at lunchtime 1:10 to 1:45pm, and Friday mornings 8:15 to 8:45 am before school.
