The Year 10 Health Science class experienced an enriching Pilates session with our Marketing & Digital Communications Manager, Brittany Warren. This popular exercise program is starting to be accepted as part of a holistic, lifestyle-based approach to ‘building brain health’.
I enjoyed the Pilates session with Brittany. Brittany taught us about the positive impact of Pilates on the body, particularly how this form of exercise can benefit the brain. (Ashmi Dangi)
I found that after Pilates, I was instantly more focused and happier. (Giuliana Blefari)
Undertaking Pilates with Brittany was very insightful. We were able to experience the physical side of Pilates, but also learn about the mental impacts. (Lucy Mahar)
I really enjoyed the Pilates and meditation exercises in Health Science because it was a new experience. I was able to test my flexibility and core strength. It was very helpful after the session when Brittany spoke to us about how we can keep our bodies healthy during menstruation. (Kira Polymiadis)

Last Friday night, Year 12 Student and Boarder, Deontae Greenoff, played in the SANFLW Indigenous Round for Norwood. Loreto Boarders and day students came out to support DJ on her debut and we could not be more proud! Norwood went on to win against the Eagles!
Last week, a group of students took part in an online 'Working Group on Girls' Conversation Circle. This conversation circle was in association with the IBVM NGO at the UN. The circles were led by Youth Advocates from across the world including Old Scholar, Milla Swain (2022). Our students contributed to conversations around the theme of innovation and technological change, focusing on areas such as Leadership and Gender Bias. The girls learned that women and girls have less access to technology and the internet than boys and men, creating a distinct digital gender divide, which impacts women and girls' ability to engage in an increasingly technology-focused world. This was a great opportunity to hear and contribute to the collective voices of women and girls around the world and to recognise the importance of highlighting issues of social justice.
The National Youth Leadership Summit was held last Friday 10 March and was attended by our Student Leaders, Tahlia Warner, India Lange and Hallie Anderson. This one-day intensive workshop was designed to challenge, inspire and empower student leaders. Prior to the event, the girls were required to complete a Character Strengths Survey which formed part of the day's learning. Ideas were swapped and friendships made with leaders from other schools, giving the girls the opportunity to build networks and lean on one another through their year of leadership. The girls learnt a great deal, so we look forward to witnessing their leadership throughout 2023!
Congratulations to MULHALL for back-to-back wins for the 2023 7-12 Swimming Carnival and to MCGRATH for winning the Spirit Cup! The day was filled with booming cheers that echoed the Aquatic Centre, speedy laps of the pool and team spirit. We thank our PE Department for putting together this event and all staff who assisted on the day. It was another fantastic event and we look forward to seeing what our swimmers can achieve in the pool at inter-school carnivals throughout the year.
