Harmony Day

On Tuesday this week we celebrated Harmony Day. Harmony Day is a celebration of our diversity regardless of gender, race, ethnicity or religion. The day promotes inclusiveness and respect as well as a sense of belonging and community. Harmony Day really does encapsulate what it means to embrace the Loreto values of Freedom, Justice, Sincerity, Verity and Felicity. Our school is inclusive of all students, and we actively promote kindness and tolerance of each other. In order to celebrate this day, the Senior School leaders and a group of teachers surprised the girls with a flashmob at assembly. It’s worth a look at this dance on our social media – be prepared to be amazed at the hidden talent of our teachers!

Endometriosis Awareness Month

At assembly this week our Senior School student leaders did an informative presentation for the girls on endometriosis. March is Endometriosis Awareness Month, the aim of this month is to draw attention to this condition that impacts on 1 in 9 Australian women and approximately 190 million women globally, according to the World Health Organization (WHO). Endometriosis is an inflammatory condition where endometrial tissue (tissue similar to the lining of the uterus) grows outside of the uterus. It is a very painful condition and one that can have a debilitating impact on girls and women’s quality of life. The aim of the presentation lead by the girls was to start to normalise the conversation around pelvic pain for girls and women and to provide our girls with information about symptoms and where to get help.
