Waste Warriors

Waste Warriors: Christy, Ruby and Lulu chose to pick up rubbish in our school yard. What champions they are looking after our environment and making sure  that no rubbish gets eaten by our marine life.

Caring for birds @ Fatima

Fatima is part of the 'Birds In School' program. We have planted many small bird-friendly plants which we are watering by saving our wasted water in containers at our drinking taps. We also have a bird bath to provide water for our feathered friends. We are now encouraging students not to bring foil plastic wrappers to school. These are usually found as small packets of chips.

When they blow into the bay our seabirds see the silvery lining glitter in the water and mistake them for a fish.  In some parts of Australia 90 percent of the seabirds have this foil plastic in their stomach which is causing major digestive issues. Please don’t send any food to school which has a foil wrapper as it will end up as loose rubbish at the top and blow into our beautiful Port Phillip Bay.

Artistic excellence!

Congratulations to Pene and Sveya for their fox paintings which are currently being exhibited at the CEM Creative Arts Show in Melbourne. This exhibition showcases the best examples of students’ Visual Art in Victoria.

We have collected many plastic lids for an outdoor mosaic style mural near our Flourish Garden which  has the tiled wall. We are short of a few tricky colours, pink, purple, gold and brown.  These may be on flavoured milk bottles but are easy to find on clothes washing detergent/ conditioner, deodorant, vitamin containers and some childrens yoghurts. Please send along your colourful treasures in the next fortnight as we are ready to design, glue and screw our lid creation into place as part of our Garden Program. This is a sample of what we are trying to create.

Years 3 and 4 have created  wonderful and very creative interpretations of lizards after being inspired by examples of Aboriginal art, symbols and patterns.
