Parent Helpers

We are excited to welcome Parent Helpers into the classroom in early Term 2 to assist with student learning from Prep to Year 6.

We are holding two Classroom Helper Workshops in the second last week of term for parents who are new to helping in classrooms at Galilee.  We are offering workshops on Monday 27th March at 1:30pm and will repeat the session on Tuesday 28th of March at 9:30am.  You only need to attend one session.  Both workshops will be online and the link to the online workshops will be on the Parent Calendar. The workshop will run for approximately half an hour.

You only need to attend one of these workshops, if you have not attended the Classroom Helper Workshop in the past.

To help in classrooms you will need to have attended a Classroom Helper Workshop (in 2023 or previously), hold a current Working With Children Check and be available to help in the classroom at a set time (once a week, one a fortnight).  This will help teachers to develop a roster and know who is helping on particular days.  If you are unable to commit to a regular time slot and want to occasionally help in the classroom, let your child’s teacher know and you can find a time that will work best for the classroom.

Early in Term 2, teachers will send out a timetable with the days and times that they require support.  You will be able to nominate a time that works best for you.  You will then be rostered weekly or fortnightly.

We continue to value all the support and assistance from our parents and thank you in anticipation.

Galilee’s Family Favourites

Last week an email was sent out about contributing to a Galilee Cookbook.

This term we are exploring and celebrating Harmony in our community.  One thing that has always brought people together is food. At Galilee we have decided to put together a Family Favourites Cookbook.

We’d love your help in putting together this collection of favourite recipes that our children love to cook and eat at home.

Using the template below, share with us your family’s favourite

recipe, include your family name, the name of the dish, the ingredients and method.  Please keep your recipe to one page and work on it as a family. Feel free to add pictures and colour to the template. I have included an example of my family recipe.

Once the recipes have been collected we will publish the cookbook as a pdf file. All families will have access to the school cookbook however we ask that you bring in a gold coin donation on the 29th of March (The date we are celebrating Harmony Day). The money raised will go to stocking our Make a Space Kitchen and purchasing some new texts related to Harmony, Family and Celebrations for our classrooms.

We want to celebrate the diversity of our Galilee families and share our wonderful family traditions with the community.

Please send your recipes (as a word document) to Miss Evans by the 20th of March, 2023 (hevans@gsm.vic.edu.au)

Many thanks,

Miss Evans

Cross Country

Cross Country is Monday 20th March for students in Prep - Year 6. Students have been practicing for this event in their Sports Lessons with Mr. Greene. Students need to wear their house colour to school on Monday. Parents are invited to watch and support students at Murphy Reserve. It promises to be a fantastic day.

Please see the timetable for the day in the link below:

Ride to School Day

Next Friday 24th March, we are celebrating Ride to School Day at Galilee. We are encouraging everyone within our community to decorate their bike or scooter and ride it into school. For students who live a long way from school, we encourage you to park the car a few blocks away from Galilee and ride the rest of the way. There will be prizes for the best decorated bike/scooter. Thank you Mr. Greene for organising this event.
