From the Deputy Principal

National Assessment Program - Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN)

National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) season is fast approaching and we will be running a practice test on Tuesday 7 March to help students familiarise themselves with the platform and make sure that the NAPLAN application on their devices is functioning as we expect.  No responses will be collected or marked.

As with the NAPLAN tests in Weeks Seven and Eight, it is important that students arrive at school with their fully-charged devices and a set of earphones on Tuesday.

NAPLAN results will be reported to families in a different way this year.  More information is available in the ACARA media release regarding new proficiency standards for NAPLAN.

You can access the public demonstration site at any time to familiarise yourself or your child with the platform.

You will find this information on the Secondary and Primary school pages in this Anchor.

Clean Up Australia Day and our long weekend

I'm sure all our students and their families are looking forward to the long weekend.  Do make sure you take advantage of this opportunity to spend time with your children, where possible.   And, as I reminded students at assembly, don't forget there is no school on Monday!

It is Clean Up Australia Day on Sunday 5 March and this is an opportunity to make a contribution to improving our environment.  Pip Kiernan, Chair of Clean Up Australia says “Our environment is facing pressure unlike ever before. As all Australians know, over the past two years, we’ve seen severe bushfires, cyclones and floods, and increased pressures on our biodiversity and an ever-growing volume of waste which leaks into our natural and marine environment.”

“Australians tell us every day that they are concerned about the world we live in but often feel frustrated and unsure how to make a positive impact. Clean Up Australia Day is a great opportunity to work together and take practical action. Together we can all make a real difference.” You can read more here.
