From the Principal

Principal’s Retirement

Today our Chair of School Council, Mrs Fran Leary,  announced my retirement as Great Southern Grammar’s fourth Principal at the end of this year.  It has been a privilege to serve the School Council, students and families and staff over the past seven years.  During this time, I have worked alongside people who share the vision of education as a holistic journey in lifelong learning and development and I would like to express my gratitude for the faith placed in my appointment by the School Council.  I am looking forward to a more relaxed lifestyle with family.

25th Year Celebrations

This is an exciting year for GSG as we celebrate 25 years.  I would like to highlight a couple of important dates for:

  • Foundation Day Assembly & Running of the Flags -  Friday 9 June, GSG Multi-Purpose Sport Complex
  • 25th Celebration Cocktail Party -  Saturday 10 June, Princess Royal Sailing Club

Pupil Free Day

I would like to remind Secondary School families that Thursday 6 April is a pupil-free day. Staff will be undertaking pastoral care training and evaluating our new organisational structure.  Primary School will operate as usual.

Mount Barker School Bus Service

I would like to invite families from the Mount Barker and surrounding areas, to discuss the issues around the current bus service from Mount Barker to GSG.   The feedback from this discussion will endeavour to enhance future solutions.  The meeting will be held at the Mount Barker Community Resource Centre on Wednesday 8 March at 5.30pm with Deputy Principal, Mrs Emma Franklin and myself attending.
