Respectful Relationships

Grade 3-4 Daenke – Stress Management

This term, we have been learning about what ‘stress’ is, how it can affect us and how to manage it. We spent some time defining it and thinking of events in our lives that have been stressful – some major events like an injury, and others that might occur more regularly like forgetting something important, a big test, or getting in trouble. We worked in groups to describe how that stress made us feel, what it looked like in our behaviour and what was the result.

We learned about 6 simple strategies that we can use when we feel stressed; breathing, moving, talking, planning, distracting or getting out.

We selected one strategy each and held a poster design competition to help raise awareness of our chosen stress management strategy.

Our three winners were Jensen C, Archer L and Nihira G. Congratulations to everybody who submitted an entry as they were all super!

Harmony Day - Friday 24th March

On Friday 24th of March we will be celebrating Harmony Day at SGPS.

Harmony Day is a celebration that recognises our diversity and brings together Australians from all different backgrounds. It’s about inclusiveness, respect and a sense of belonging for everyone.

Students will participate in a variety of activities in house groups and complete a “passport” to reflect the different cultures explored. We're also looking forward to a performance on didgeridoo by Uncle Paul Chapman and a performance of "Everyone Belongs" by the SGPS Choir.

A huge thank you to those students who have volunteered to speak at the 9am assembly and to those students who have shared their ideas of activities reflecting their culture.

As orange is the colour to represent Harmony Day, students are encouraged to wear something orange to school. Students may also choose to wear their traditional/cultural costume to school if they have one.
