Nuts at School?

Our school is not a ‘nut free’ school, however, we do support your children to follow important guidelines to ensure all of our children are safe at school, especially those with an allergy to nuts (and/or other foods).

Due to issues relating to anaphylaxis, allergies, diabetes etc, students are not to swap/share food with other children. Although we have detailed anaphylaxis plans for students who are anaphylactic, all students play a vital role in preventing students from being exposed to what causes an allergic reaction or anaphylaxis.

Statewide timeline to manage Prep enrolments for the 2024 school year

The new statewide enrolment timeline provides Victorian government primary schools with clear timeframes for enrolling students who will commence Prep in the 2024 school year.

This will be the first time that schools will use a statewide timeline for enrolments into the Prep year. The timeline seeks to support schools and families by making the Prep enrolment process simpler, clearer and fairer.

The timeline includes key dates, activity descriptions and an overview of responsibilities to help schools to plan for their Prep enrolments. Key dates and activities for schools in the 2023–24 timeline include the following:

  • Schools can receive enrolment applications from parents and carers from the start of Term 2, 2023. This follows the release of 2024 zones on the department’s Find my School website and the publication of Foundation (Prep) enrolment information packs.
  • Enrolment applications from parents and carers are to be submitted by Friday, 28 July 2023.
  • Schools notify parents and carers of the outcome of enrolment applications by Friday, 11 August 2023.
  • Written non-placement appeals from parents and carers are to be lodged with schools by Friday, 25 August 2023.
  • Schools notify parents and carers in writing of the outcome of non-placement appeals by Friday, 15 September 2023.

Labour Day Holiday

Students are not required at school on Monday, 13th March due to the Labour Day Holiday.

National Assessment Program — Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN)

This year NAPLAN will be conducted from March 15th-17th. The assessment program tests Years 3 and 5 students in reading, persuasive or narrative writing, grammar and punctuation, numeracy and spelling. This year NAPLAN will continue to be largely completed in an online format for students. Students will be involved in a School Readiness Test (SRT) this week to test the school’s online capabilities and systems.

School Photos

We had our school photos last Wednesday. Everyone looked excited to have their photo taken, even the teachers!

We anticipate that the photos will be sent to our school early next term. If you forgot to place an order, you can still do this online by going to  www.leadingimage.com.au. To place an order online you will need the special school access key, which is U76RG5AK. Late orders can be placed at any time, however, you may be required to pay for your photos to be posted directly to your house if an order isn’t made soon. The postage cost is approximately $10.00. Please contact the office if you have any questions.
