NAPLAN & persuasive writing

From Hayley, Year 5 teacher

Our Year 5 cohort have been practicing how to break down worded problems. This is a key skill that is also applicable to NAPLAN. Students have been pairing up to guide one another through breaking down questions step by step. It has been excellent to see how engaged they have been through helping one another. Our students have shown patience and perseverance while undergoing practice NAPLAN tests and should be commended for their efforts thus far.

An area of excitement for the grade 5's has been writing persuasive pieces. Students have been working in pairs and groups to present arguments for or against a given topic. From partner and group discussion, students have been planning and writing structured pieces. We have seen some passionate and inspiring points of view, we hope you have too!
