Grade 1 and 2

The Grade 1s and 2s have had a great week.

Parent reading has begun in the afternoons. Please check your classroom roster to sign up if you haven't already. 

Writer's and Reader's Workshop: Grade 1s and 2s have continued working on nouns, and have started looking at narratives in Writer's Workshop.

Maths: We have been working on place value; two digit numbers for grade 1 and three digit for grade 2.

Inquiry: Our focus this term is on learning about communities, what it means to be a part of a community and why community is so important. Please check your emails for upcoming excursion forms. We will be seeking parent helpers to accompany us on the day, so please let your teacher know if you are available to help.

Important dates for Term 1:

• Week 7 - Labour day (Mon 13th March)
• Week 7 - CFA firesafe excursion (Grade 1 Thursday 16th 12:15-1:30) (Grade 2 Friday 17th 9:15-11:15am) 
• Week 7 -  Warrandyte Festival 18th/19th March (Grade 1 need to meet Nelson school chaplain at 12:20pm by the stage in Stiggants reserve for their performance)
• Week 8 - Friday 31 March community walk - further details to follow
• Week 9 - Teacher planning week  (all specialist classes on one day.)
