Wellbeing

Over recent weeks, a nervous kookaburra named Kevin, and a confident Snow Tiger named Tango, visited the Foundation -1’s.  Kevin the kookaburra was experiencing a range of emotions and the students helped him practise 4 strategies to overcome his worries.

  • Deep breathing
  • Positive self-talk
  • Breaking up the task into smaller sections
  • Keep trying!

The year 2-4’s have been focusing on recognising emotions and identifying when they felt grateful at school, home, with friends and family. Some great discussions followed with the students recognising their parents, siblings, and teachers’ contributions.

The year 5-6’s loved studying body language and role-playing different emotions. They have been encouraged to use strategies to develop their confidence. Recently, graphic organisers have been used to unpack Wellbeing agreements. These agreements are essential to the Wellbeing program: -

  • Mutual Respect
  • Attentive Listening
  • Appreciation/No Put-Downs
  • The Right to Pass

They ensure all students and teachers are valued by creating a respectful and productive learning environment.

After listening to the story, How Full is your Bucket? The students have embraced the concept of filling each other’s emotional ‘buckets’. They have all enjoyed creating a bucket which will now be filled with ideas and positive appreciations from others.
