Principal's Notes

29th April 2022

Dear Parents and Families,

This is a very different start to Term 2 for me and I am slowly on the improve! My aim is to be back at school next Monday.

While being at home and recovering, it has made me think of all the things that I am grateful for.  So here is my current list: my health, the staff, students and families at Cavendish PS, my own family and friends, the Covid Vaccine, books, sunny days, coffee and living in a country that is safe.

Congratulations to Miss Thompson as she has received a scholarship to study her Masters of Inclusive Education through Monash University. This sponsorship from the Department of Education covers the tuition and fees for this course. Miss Thompson will begin her part-time study in semester two while continuing her full-time teaching position.

Masks on school buses

Students who are 8 years or older are reminded that they are still required to wear a face mask on the school bus as they are classed as public transport.  Please ensure that your child has a mask on when travelling on the school bus.

First day of Term 2

After the long weekend, all students settled back into their classes and enjoyed their first lessons in Music with Mrs Huf. A big thankyou to Miss Purnell who spent the morning with the F/1 class.

Anzac Ceremony

The staff and students held an Anzac ceremony on Tuesday.  Lexi recited the Ode, Talia laid a wreath that the students made in class and Indi laid some flowers.

LEST WE FORGET

Redgum Festival

This year's Redgum Festival proved to be a huge success with large numbers of people attending. The weather was perfect and everything looked amazing. Congratulations to the committee and all their helpers who put so much time and effort into festival.

Some of our students won prizes in the art competition and Mrs Bell presented the winning students with their prizes at school on Tuesday. Well done  to Evie, Sienna, Emma, Mietta and Addison.

Treat days for lunch

Parents Club had some leftover food from the Redgum Festival so on Tuesday the students were spoilt with a hotdog lunch.  Thanks to Claire for organising this.  And then on Wednesday they were spoilt again with a ham and cheese toasted sandwich.  Thanks to Merryn and Alicia for coming up and cooking them for the students.  The students and staff loved it!

A big thankyou to Tammy, Mrs Brabham, Miss Thompson, Mrs Murray, Miss Purnell, Mrs Bell, Mrs McNaughton, Mrs Huf and Mr McLachlan for 'holding the fort' while I have been on sick leave this week. We are fortunate to have an incredible group of people working at this school.

Have a lovely weekend,
