Acting Principal's Views

From Jenny Loorham

Dear Parents and Carers,

Celebration! EVPS Lawn Bowls

Our Lawn Bowls Team went to Sunbury today to play in the Victorian State Final. We are very proud of all of the team members, who were outstanding role models and very respectful throughout the day. We have had very positive reports about excellent student behaviour and most importantly, everybody had fun! The competition came down to the last roll of the day. The scores were even until that point. The anticipation of that last roll was enormous! The last roll was made and unfortunately was not close enough. We are very proud of the Runners Up flag we received for all of our team members’ efforts and congratulate them on their achievement. Thank you very much to our coaches and staff, Nathan, Gerard and Nikki, who supported them in the lead up as well as today.

The Book Fair is back!

Starting on Tuesday 10th May, the Book Fair will be running at our school. Prep and Year 1 students will have the opportunity to visit the Book Fair with their Library Specialist class. All other grades will visit with their teachers. Students will have the opportunity to write a ‘Wish List’ and will bring their wish list home. Parents can then choose to purchase through the website listed or by sending the Wish List with highlighted items for order, along with money, back to school. There will be lots of great books, posters and stationery items to purchase. The school benefits with resources based on the sales we have.

Sun Smart Hats

Now that we are in the month of May, students are not required to wear a Sun Smart hat, until September 1st. Students can of course continue to wear a Sun Smart hat, if they choose to.

NAPLAN

Our Years 3 and 5 students will undertake NAPLAN testing over Weeks 3 and 4, starting next Tuesday 10th of May. It is important to have low key approach to NAPLAN and simply encourage your children to do their best. All students will also need to remember to bring their headphones. It is also important that Year 5 students have charged Netbooks each day, as NAPLAN is now completed online.

Mother’s Day

It has been fantastic to see our students going to the Mother’s Day stall and choosing items for the special people in their lives this week. It has been a long time since we have been able to have the stall face to face, so this was a real celebration. Thank you to all of our mothers, grandmothers, aunties and significant mother figures for the contribution you make to their lives of the children in your care. You all do an amazing job and your contributions have a significant impact on our students’ learning and lives. Well done! We hope you all enjoy an amazing day on Sunday.

We hope you all have a great weekend, see you next week!

Kind regards,

Jenny Loorham
