Greek Independence Day

Celebrating Greek Independence Day
The year 9 and 10 Greek class celebrated Greek Independence Day last week with Greek coffee and sweets.
On the 25 of March the Greeks celebrate Greek Independence Day. They have big parades where children will march around with big flags dressed in traditional costumes. The biggest parade takes place in Athens where there are bands, military vehicles, music and more. In 1821 the Greeks stood up to the Ottoman Empire which occupied Greece for almost 400 years, leading to the war of independence.
