Celebrating Pi day

Constant fun at Maths Help
Northcote High’s inaugural Pi day celebration was a well-rounded success. Traditionally celebrated on March 14, because the date “3/14” resembles the mathematical constant's approximate value of 3.14, we took some time during Maths Help last week to have some fun (and pies!)
Riley Magee of Year 12 won the pi digit recital competition (reciting the first 50 digits). Maisie Amos of Year 7 also deserves our congratulations for her efforts to be awarded seconded place. Lachlan Chau of Year 11 showed exceptional speed to win the times table knockout competition, beating Sian Seal of Year 10 to take the times table crown. Special thanks to Diana Blyton for organising circular pies that were enjoyed by all attendees.
