Curriculum
As a Catholic school, we proudly proclaim our Catholic traditions and teach Religious Education using 'Source of Life' as our core curriculum.
St Anne’s College, along with all other schools in Victoria, follows the Victorian Curriculum. The curriculum is broken into levels of achievement; each level consists of a series of outcomes. The levels are associated with the years of schooling as follows:
Level Learning Area
Foundation to Level 4 School of Wonder
Level 5 to Level 9 School of Innovation
Level 10 to Level 12 School of Possibilities
School of Wonder – Foundation to Level 4
In the School of Wonder, our Catholic values, school philosophy and teaching framework underpin all we do at St Anne’s College. We believe the child is capable and constructs their understandings through learning opportunities and experiences. Learning Mentors work in partnership with parents, developing the whole child who has assets for life; thinking, collaborating, researching, communicating and self-management skills. It begins with building positive relationships and inquiring to understand each child, discovering their interests, passions and strengths.
The learning studios are spaces where children create and share the responsibility of learning through inquiry, purposeful play and explicit teaching. Learning Mentors, Learning Support Officers and children work together to create learning that is relevant and challenging, that builds skills, knowledge and attitudes for life.

School of Innovation – Level 5 to Level 9
In developing a learning program for the School of Innovation (Years 5 - 9) that aligns with our college vision, we have considered the way in which the program is offered to students in terms of opportunities for discernment by the learner. Choice, flexibility, challenge and a close alignment and genuine attention to the General Capabilities - Critical and Creative Thinking; Ethical; Intercultural; Personal and Social Capability - are needed to support this vision for the learner at St Anne’s College.
Our School of Innovation aims for the development of students who:
• Have excellent breadth and depth of knowledge
• Flourish physically, intellectually, emotionally, spiritually and ethically
• Have opportunity to develop a sense of self in the world
• Explore the nature of knowledge

School of Possibilities – Level 10 to Level 12
The college curriculum for the School of Possibilities recognises that in these years of schooling, students begin to focus on areas of specialisation related to their personal interests and intended pathways beyond school. As a result, students are able to select from a broad range of specialised fields of study. During these years of schooling, students commence and complete senior school qualifications, including Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE), Victorian Certification of Education Vocational Major (VCE Vocational Major) and Vocational Education and Training (VET) qualifications. Whilst the majority of these qualifications are completed in Years 11 and 12, opportunity is provided for some students to begin VCE and VET courses in Year 10.

Digital Technology and Information and Communication Technology
ICT is a fundamental part of St Anne’s College. All School of Wonder and School of Innovation students have access to Apple iPads, along with digital cameras and other recording devices. School of Possibilities students use MacBook Air laptops as a learning tool.
The Digital Technologies curriculum enables students to become confident and creative developers of digital solutions through the application of information systems and specific ways of thinking about problem solving. Students acquire a deep knowledge and understanding of digital systems, data and information and the processes associated with creating digital solutions, so they can take up an active role in meeting current and future needs.
St Anne’s College promotes the safe use of ICT. In an increasingly technological and complex world, it is important that students develop knowledge and confidence to critically analyse and respond creatively to design challenges. Technologies can play a crucial role in enriching and transforming societies, and in the management of natural and constructed environments.
Languages
All Foundation to Year 9 students at St Anne’s College learn Italian. Once students enter the School of Possibilities at Year 10, Italian becomes a specialisation for students who wish to continue their studies in the language.
You may notice that signs around the college are in English and Italian. The title of our fortnightly college newsletter, il giornale, and annual college eMagazine, Insieme, reflect our focus on the Italian language at St Anne’s College. Learning a second language has many benefits for the brain, including improved cognitive skills.
Sports
Students participate in a Physical Education program at St Anne's College and also have the opportunity to partake in community sports, such as soccer and netball, representing the St Anne's Sports Association. Other opportunities to participate in sports include the college's athletics and swimming carnivals and interschool winter and summer sports.
