“Jules Chevalier’s feeling of powerlessness was removed by the realization that he was an instrument of Christ’s saving power, to be sent as Christ was sent in the power and love of the Father.”

At times it is easy to feel powerless, especially when we are faced with the events that are going on around Australia and the rest of the world.  War in Ukraine, floods in Queensland and New South Wales, are such examples that have drawn the attention of students and staff at Monivae College over the recent months.

The student leadership team and Mrs. Jane Nankivell organized a Bake sale where students and staff donated baked goods that were sold at recess and lunchtime. With the help of generous purchases, as well as a well-attended auction for the prized cheesecake, over $1000 was raise in a little less than 30 minutes to help those flood affected Australians.

Our Caritas – Project compassion appeal has come to an end at our Liturgy on Friday. Monies raised go directly to Caritas Australia. A large amount was gathered when we held our annual St Patrick’s Day casual day.  Each and every bit gathered, from a 5 cent coin to a $50 note was appreciated.   It shows that we are never powerless as long as we care and act if we can.

The Term finished with the Stations of the Cross. This liturgy tells the story of Jesus’ crucifixion. It is a reminder to all Catholics that Jesus died so we can live, and he carried the burden of this expectation with him. The fact that Jesus was human means that like him, we can carry a burden knowing the loving God will be there for us.
