Being Well at Magill
Kindness Week at Magill School
Hello everyone. Your children have been VERY busy for the last week, focusing on two important calendar events: National Day of Action against Bullying and Violence, the 2022 theme being Kindness Culture and Harmony Week, 2022 theme being Everyone belongs. Our primary year's students launched the week with their assembly on Friday of Week 7.
Since then, children have been focussing on what it means to be kind and the importance of deliberately remembering this particular character strength. Research is showing that people who are kind and compassionate are more satisfied with their lives, have better physical and mental health, and have stronger relationships. Being kind and compassionate can help other people, and make you feel good too.

Today, our official ‘Week of Kindness’ culminated with the Junior Primary assembly and Casual Day school-wide. Of course, we can, and do continue to demonstrate kindness on a daily basis! Our students have been accessing all sorts of learning on this topic and no doubt teachers will share some of it with their families. In the meantime, here is a snapshot of work across the school.
Everyone Belongs
P12 created artwork using the outline of their hands and self-designed sleeves to represent ‘Belonging’.
Acknowledgment of Country and Peace Dove
P16 designed their own Acknowledgement.
Kids Helpline
F8 participated in an online Kids Helpline session this morning. The session focus was "Being Kind Online" After the session, the students created their personal online agreement in the form of a Google Slide.
Identity Silhouette Portraits
F1 students discussed the meaning of identity, explored traditional, cultural, and invented symbols. They learned how artists used these symbols to represent their own or others' identities. Afterward, students created a silhouette self-portrait using visual symbols that define them in some way (personality, interests, talents, dreams, goals, values, etc).
