Duke of Edinburgh Award - Adventurous Journeys 2022
In support of our Duke of Edinburgh Award Program, training will begin for our new Bronze Duke of Edinburgh students on Monday 2 May in S1 from 3.30 pm – 4.30 pm. This training is in preparation for their Adventurous Journey. Due to risk minimisation considerations, students who do not complete this pre-training will not be permitted to complete the Adventurous Journey component of their Duke of Edinburgh Award through the College. Many companies external to the College offer these Journeys. A permission note can be collected from the Student Office or the Outdoor Education notice board (Outside Mr de Silva’s office). Students are advised to read the school daily notices.
The focus for Term 1 was the two Silver/Gold Adventurous Journeys which unfortunately were both cancelled due to the extreme weather event. No Silver or Gold Adventurous Journeys will be offered in Term 2.
A reminder that a student's College cocurricular commitments always take priority over organised College Adventurous Journeys. Discussion must take place between the student and the coach well in advance of a departure date if there is a clash. Being released from a cocurricular commitment is at the coach and sport convenor's discretion.
Proposed Dates for your calendar (to be confirmed)
Term 2 Week 6: Bronze
Saturday 4 June – Sunday 5 June
Students require 6 hour days over 1 night
Term 4 Week 8: Gold/Silver
Friday 2 December – Thursday 8 December (in conjunction with Year 11 Snowy Hike)
Please Note: Snowy Hike is for Year 11 students only
Please note that the College’s commitment for providing Adventurous Journeys is for the Bronze level only. Any other Journeys offered are through staff availability.
