Unwell students at school

Gallery Image

We have almost got through a whole term at school!  Thank you to everyone for helping keep our school safe this term by following the guidelines and testing your family to help keep the spread of Covid19 out of our school. Can we please ask that with the remainder of term and going forward into term 2, that everyone please help by continuing to test when needed and to please keep your students home when they have any signs of illness ( even when showing Covid19 negative). This will help ensure that the rest of our school students and staff stay well and are able to continue learning and working. Below is guidance from DHHS for schools to follow. We are sending a number of students home daily feeling unwell with colds/runny noses, tummy aches etc. We ask that you please follow the DHHS guidance. Students who have vomited/loose bowels must stay home for 24hrs after the last incident. General responses to influenza, gastroenteritis and other common infections in your school

Schools should consider the following when responding to students affected by common infections:

  • students with cold or flu-like symptoms or vomiting or diarrhoea should be encouraged to seek medical attention, limit contact with others and stay at home until symptoms have passed
  • if a child becomes ill at school with these symptoms, schools should contact the family and arrange for the collection of the child
  • good general hygiene remains the best defence against infection and schools should encourage children to regularly wash their hands and cover their nose and mouth if sneezing and coughing; refer to the Personal Hygiene Policy.

We thank you for your understanding and help in this matter to hep keep our school a safe place.

It is important for our school to have an updated copy of an Asthma Action Plan, Anaphylaxis and/or Allergy Plan for the health and wellbeing of your child and to adhere to our school policies. These forms need updating yearly to comply with our management policy.

To help us complete this process, it would be appreciated if you could please arrange to have the form/s completed. Please note your doctor needs to prepare and sign this form.

It is also important that you come past the front office to replace any medication that is out of date or no longer needed.  If your child does not already have medication at the office and needs it, please provide all medications with names to the office ASAP.

If you have any questions, or would like a copy of the forms please contact the front office

Thank you for your help in managing this.

  • All visitors to the school, including parents and carers, must wear masks when entering the school grounds as this is in line with the Chief Health Officer’s directive that masks must be worn both inside and outside.
  • All visitors to the school - no matter how long they intend to stay, must check in using the QR code at the office.
  • Parents and carers are asked to not linger in groups in the yard at drop off and pick up times.
  • Parents and carers are not to enter classrooms.
  • Please adhere to social distancing at all times.
