Spectacular 5/6

Grade 5/6

Term 1 Week 10 2021 - Friday 8th of March 2022

Message from the Teacher:

We have finally reached the end of term 1 and what a crazy term it has been. Even through all the struggles of absent students and cancelled events, 5/6A have still managed to have a blast and participate and compete in some fantastic events. These last 2 weeks alone have seen us complete our House Cross-Country event, our Year 6 boys win the Lightning Premiership in Tee-ball and our girls team come a very respectable 2nd. We also completed our mock parliament, as a culmination of our persuasive writing and inquiry units and begin our community service program with a visit to North Cheltenham Kindergarten. Along the way there have been plenty of frustrations and some losses, but these kids have shown amazing resilience, empathy and compassion to always pick up their classmates and keep going. Well done for getting through Term 1 and have a great break!

Learning Intentions for Term 2:

Reading: Book Club picks back up in week 1 and we will begin to look at some amazing children’s authors and use these as inspiration for our story writing.

Writing: Next term is all about story writing, culminating in the creation of their own books which will be taken to the kindergarten to share

Maths: In Maths we are moving on to Addition and Subtraction for the first six weeks of term.

Inquiry: We will begin our exploration of mankind’s footprint on this planet and how it affects plants, animals and the weather.
