Year 7 Camp

On Tuesday 22 March, Year 7 students headed off for camp at Wilson’s Promontory. This was a great time for students to get to know others from different Home Groups and to further get to know their teachers as well.

The weather was extremely kind to us all, with only a few showers coming across over the four days of action-packed excitement. What a great camp it was for Year 7s! There were so many fun and challenging activities, such as canoeing, bike riding, bush walking, initiative games and everyone’s favourite, body-boarding, all run by our camp provider, AusCamp.

The night program consisted of walks along the beach and a time of devotion, reflection and discussion and even a movie night under the stars. There were plenty of furry friends to keep us company as well, with huge friendly wombats frequenting the campsite, sniffing around for any food that was left over.

Students slept in tents that were provided for us and, although a squeeze, kept us safe from the elements and had us all enjoy a good night’s sleep. The days were full of activities and all students (and staff) were extremely tired by the end of each day.

Overall, we had a great time away and would have loved to have stayed longer. I wish to extend a huge thank you to all the staff who gave up their week to be with the students on camp and indeed, the students for their exemplary behaviour while away on camp.

We thank God for the provision of a successful camp and for returning us safely on Friday afternoon.
